As a borough of Harrogate, Ripon is a beautiful city to re-locate to. As a cathedral city, it is home to alluring architecture; some of its main features include: Ripon Cathedral, Ripon Racecourse and the regular markets.

The city is perfect for those who cherish a quieter life with its small population and a brilliant community feel. Ripon is one of the smallest cities in Yorkshire so is perfect for those aiming to avoid the bustle of Yorkshires larger cities. Ripon has many specialist shops fuelling the town’s popularity and has multiple bars, cafes, restaurants and niche, independent businesses.

Ripon holds rich historic value with the Cathedral at the heart, adopting a gothic, early English architecture style, it is considered one of the best of its class, as exemplified via the Grade I listed status. The local community take pride in the beauty of their city; it is very well-kept and clean.

But don’t be fooled by the quiet nature of the city, there is still much to keep you entertained. The racecourse attracts visitors during the racing calendar months and hosts multiple events. Similarly, the markets are open every Thursday where you can support local businesses and find unique products. Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall are in close proximity. The National Trust’s Brimham Rocks site is a popular destination for visitors, as well as the theme park Lightwater Valley.

There are multiple excellent schools to choose from, including Outwood Academy, Ripon Grammar School, and St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School, all with Ofsted ratings of ‘outstanding’.  Ripon is therefore a perfect location for a family.

In terms of transport, the regular bus service from Ripon to Leeds, via Harrogate, is highly valued, with many residents relying on it for commuting to work, school or leisure. The main bus route to Harrogate and Leeds operates at 20 minute intervals and has luxury double deckers. There are also main bus routes to surrounding towns and cities, including, Knaresborough, Boroughbridge, York, Leyburn and Richmond.

For those who prefer travel by car, the recently upgraded A1 motorway and the A61 are both within close reach of Ripon and link the North East, West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Leeds.
