Why Everyone Wants a 3 Bed Semi:
The desire for three bedroom semi detached properties has hit a record high. Generally, the traditional three bed semi offers flexibility, space and usually an opportunity for expansion. It’s clear why this property type has proven, time and time again, to be so popular amongst us Brits.
3 bedroom houses are certainly a mainstay of the UK housing market, no matter where you come from within the country, you understand and have seen three bedroom semi detached houses. They have been built throughout the 20th Century and are still being built today, because they suit many different types of purchaser.
So what types of buyers do 3 bed semi’s attract? They suit the requirements of ‘the first time buyer’, ‘the family’ and the ‘down sizer’. The ‘first time buyer’ may search the market for their perfect 3 bed semi as it offers an appealing opportunity for ‘settling down’, space for a future family perhaps and room to entertain friends. ‘The family buyer’ may want a 3 bed semi due to the opportunity for expansion, the property could be seen as an investment. Then we have the ‘down sizer’ buyer, the 3 bed semi may attract this type of buyer as they offer a big enough space without being unmanageable.
Generally the property type comes with a garden, rather than just a courtyard and often has off street parking and a garage. In comparison to a terrace or “town house” in the same price bracket, where you will tend to get more space inside the house, your outside space may be a bit limited.
But why the current increased demand?

As ever, the usual constraint to most people is what they can afford, they then choose the style of property to suit their needs and very often a three bedroom semi detached home fits that bill.
