A struggling retail site off Skipton Road has been transformed in just 12 months to create a vibrant commercial centre generating over £86,000 a year.
Dragon Court Business Centre had just one tenant this time last year. The site has since been refurnished and extended and is now home to seven businesses including Harrogate Automation, Reeves & Co Upholstery and Inspire Bathrooms.
Adam Crawfurd-Porter, Commercial Surveyor at FSS, said: “At a time when everyone is talking about empty retail units and the crisis in commercial property, this is a real good news story for the town.
“The site has gone from being virtually empty to fully let and is generating double the original rental income,” he said.
FSS advised on the redevelopment, evaluated the potential return on investment based on likely demand and marketed the upgraded site.
Adam said the commercial property market in Harrogate was performing better than many parts of the country and the successful transformation of this site proved that there was a market for well-presented retail premises.
“Harrogate has an entrepreneurial vibe which means there are some exciting businesses looking for premises and sites like Dragon Court are working hard to attract these tenants and provide the facilities growing businesses need,” he said.
