Harrogate estate agent FSS is keeping an eye on the future by investing in the career development of its next generation of staff.
The property firm is providing support and development to three young employees who are starting out in the industry.
At 22, Adam Crawfurd-Porter has been with FSS for nearly four years. While in Sixth Form, he did his work experience with the company, and this led to him joining as a trainee after he left school.
He began learning the ropes on the reception desk, before moving up to the commercial department. He now specialises in selling and letting commercial property, and also offers client advice and market valuations.
Adam is currently taking a degree course in estate management, which goes hand-in-hand with the commercial property aspect of his work at FSS. With 18 months to go before he completes it, his end goal is to become a chartered surveyor.
Kyah Dent, 21, started her employment at FSS as a receptionist in 2015 and has progressed to a negotiator role, working in both residential and commercial sales.
Harry Smith, 20, came to FSS in 2015 on an apprenticeship with Harrogate College. He is now a full-time member of the team and is currently working on reception, hoping to follow the same path as Kyah and Adam.
FSS partner Richard Smailes said: “We are strong believers in helping our young employees to develop their careers here with us. We support them in building up their knowledge of the industry as well as their people skills, and we encourage them to undertake training which will give them a head start in their careers.
“We also have good relationships with local secondary schools, and provide work experience for their students. This gives them an insight into our world and shows them all the great things that working in property can lead to. Adam is a great example of the value of our work experience!
